Afternoon at 580 Victoria Street North Melbourne

April 29 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

If you have been intrigued by the landmark house on Victoria Street adjacent to the Loco Hall, now is your opportunity to find out more.

The building has recently been sold and its owner for the past 30 years, a Hotham History Project member, has offered to open the house to our members and the local community.

Constructed around 1916 for a manufacturing chemist on a portion of the site of the recently demolished Melbourne Benevolent Asylum, North Melbourne’s first building, it was the United Friendly Societies Dispensary for many years.

A Jazz Club briefly ran gigs in the shopfront part of the building and it later became a Scuba Dive shop. At present a residential building, it has a lovely productive garden with additional accommodation above the two car garage, once stables, at the rear of the property.

Date and time: Saturday 29th April at 2pm.

Venue: 580 Victoria Street, North Melbourne

Cost: Free but bookings essential as tickets are limited.
