Description
Summary: Men of Hotham is the first of a new series from the Hotham History Project under the general title ‘People and Places in North and West Melbourne’. Men of Hotham honours the contributions of those who served the municipalities of Hotham and North Melbourne between 1859 and 1905. It will answer questions both from people whose families have a long association with the area and from newcomers who see names on streets and buildings and would like to know who or what is behind them.
Bio: Heather McKay is Geelong born and bred and is now local history librarian at North Melbourne Library. In that role she pursues a lifelong interest and is indispensible to researchers and enquirers into our past. Men of Hotham results from many hours spent with original documents piecing together innumerable and disparate items of information. Without Heather’s labours much of the story of North and West Melbourne would already be fading from mind.
